We would like to give many thanks to everyone who helped Erik’s DeliCafé donate over 38,000 meals to our local food banks this past holiday season.
For every select menu item purchased, we donated a meal in return. We partnered with our surrounding food banks including the Alameda County Community Food Bank, Food Bank for Monterey County, Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano, Placer Food Bank, Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, and Second Harvest Food Bank Santa Cruz County.
Our local food banks are continuously hard at work helping individuals, families, and communities fight hunger. While providing meals, they also strive to promote healthy eating habits and nutrition education for all. At Erik’s, we are strong believers in eating healthy, and helping others receive the necessary resources! We are proud to continuously endorse a healthy dose of goodness, and so happy to contribute to our food banks in their mission as well!
In 2016, the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano alone provided over 20 million pounds of food to 190,000 neighbors! The Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties has one of the greatest reaches than any other food bank in the United States. They currently provide food to more than one quarter of a million people every month! Being prominent in such a dense area, with high costs of living, hunger and malnutrition is a reality to many families.
Our local food banks continuously strive to increase access to as much food and as many resources as possible, for their need is continuous and growing. There are many ways to get involved with giving back to your community! Between donations, volunteering, food, or helping spread awareness, any contribution can help make a difference!
Thank you again for being a part of our Healthy Dose of Giving! We can’t wait to be a part of yours!
